June fishing has been good. Sailboat buoys. Dumping grounds. The Spark Plug. People are reporting that nice size fish are being taken in all of the usual spots. Crawler harnesses, spoons, and body baits seem to be working equally well. Remember to run some baits higher in the water column to target active suspended fish. Don’t rule out the shallower 8′-12′ water on days when the wind is blowing. Marina store is open by 6:00a.m. daily. Boat launch access is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Another batch of high winds with a North and East influence kept most fishermen on shore through the weekend. SW today with gusts 25-30 knots. Still hearing a few walleye being caught shallow. Not much to relay.
Fishing is picking up as the weather begins to settle into a spring time pattern. Crawler harness, body baits, and we’ve even heard of a few fish being caught on spoons. Shallow water seems to be popular with a number of fishermen. Others are targeting the 16-20′ depths. Keep moving until you find active fish, and don’t be afraid to fish a line or two high in the water column for suspended fish. Mid-May fishing on Saginaw Bay, ENJOY !
Looks like we can expect a better week. The forecast indicates winds will be lighter than we’ve experienced the past few weeks. Some boats out this morning, north west wind 10-15 knots and sunny. Those that did manage to get out over the weekend said the shallows north and south of the marina produced a few fish. Slow trolled stick baits and crawlers were top picks. Good luck & be safe. We appreciate your business.
